Giulia Danese is an Italian costume designer and maker. Since high school, her interest in visual arts and fashion has always been oriented towards art studies. After graduating in Decoration at the Ligurian Academy of Fine Arts (Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti) in Genoa, she specialises in Fashion Design and Dressmaking. She decides to focus on clothing and establishes her own brand: FafaStyle. It’s with this name that she has signed each item of clothing she has personally designed and custom-tailored as well as clothing lines specifically created for several shops. The mastery she acquired in design and her aesthetic eye lead her to occasionally collaborate with other fashion brands, that require her as style advisor and prototypist. Almost at the same time, thanks to workshops and experiences in the field of arts – such as dance, painting and acting- she starts to work together with several artists, creating not only stage costumes for them, but actual personal styles. So she realizes she can better express her creativity through the story and the building of a character. Many producers and artists of all kinds notice her peculiar talent and ask for her artistic contribution in various fields of show business. Telling stories and creating new worlds through clothing, shapes and colours becomes a full-time occupation for her. She now works mainly for cinema as well as for performers, actors, musicians and dancers. Recently she has also started a series of personal productions, which allow her to practice and reconcile the various disciplines of her working background, where over the years she has gained experience with artistic management roles, costume designer, set and art designer for events, cinema, theater and artists of various kinds. These productions have the objective of combining the aesthetic research of two well-defined working realities, such as that of film and theater productions, with that of fashion magazines, in order to create a single artistic product. She loves her job, which allows her to give a new form to the elements and styles she gets inspiration from and convey them into an eclectic and evocative design. She is always fascinated by observing how working with all the colours and costumes on a set or on a stage is similar to creating a painting. She feels incredibly lucky of having the opportunity to give birth to new worlds and see them come to life through a lens.

I suoi interessi per le arti visive e la moda la indirizzano, sin dal liceo, su studi artistici che la porteranno a conseguire una laurea in Decorazione all’Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti di Genova e a diplomarsi seguentemente in Stilismo e Sartoria presso una scuola di specializzazione.
Decidendo così di concentrarsi sull’abbigliamento fonda un suo marchio, FafaStyle, con il quale per anni firmerà capi da lei disegnati e personalmente confezionati su misura e linee d’abbigliamento studiate per negozi.
La padronanza tecnica acquisita nel modellismo e un buon occhio estetico la porteranno a lavorare talvolta anche con altri marchi d’abbigliamento che cercheranno la sua collaborazione come consulente di stile e prototipista.
Quasi simultaneamente, a seguito di stage ed esperienze maturate negli anni in campi artistici quali la danza, la pittura e la recitazione, inizia a collaborare con diversi artisti realizzando per loro, oltre che i costumi scenici, dei veri e propri studi d’immagine.
É così che incomincia a realizzare che la sua creatività può venire meglio espressa mediante il racconto di una storia e la costruzione di un personaggio. Questa sua predisposizione verrà notata anche da produttori e artisti di ogni genere che da allora le daranno modo di apportare il suo contributo artistico nei più svariati campi dello spettacolo.
Raccontare storie e creare mondi attraverso l’abbigliamento, le forme e i colori diventa quindi il suo lavoro a tempo pieno.
Ora lavora principalmente per il cinema e per performer, attori, musicisti e ballerini.
Inoltre, recentemente, ha iniziato una serie di produzioni personali che le permettono di praticare e riconciliare le varie discipline del suo background lavorativo, dove negli anni ha svolto ruoli di direzione artistica, costumista, scenografo e art designer per eventi, cinema, teatro e artisti di vario genere. Queste produzioni hanno l’obiettivo di coniugare la ricerca estetica di due realtà lavorative ben definite, come quella delle produzioni cinematografiche e teatrali, con quella delle riviste di moda, al fine di creare un unico prodotto artistico.
Ama il suo lavoro, che le da modo di restituire tutti gli elementi e gli stili dai quali prende ispirazione rielaborandoli in un design eclettico ed evocativo .
Rimane sempre affascinata nel vedere quanto lavorare insieme colori e costumi su un set o un palcoscenico sia simile a creare un dipinto e si considera incredibilmente fortunata per aver l’opportunità di creare mondi e vederli prendere vita di fronte all’obiettivo.
